The Executive Committee, or ‘exec’ for short, is responsible for all core aspects of the Society, from public debates and training sessions, to organising competitions and socials.

Anna GildenBerg, President

 

Felix is a 3rd year Politics student who lives life on the debating edge. As a novice he started tab-ula rasa and now uses his various skills and debatably good puns to develop the society’s image. As President he has the ability to use his enthusiasm for debating to ensure that the day-to-day running of the Society goes smoothly, as well as ensuring we are well represented within the union and external bodies. He is passionate about making the society as open, friendly and inclusive as possible as well as being on call to give a call.

Isher Singh
Isher Singh, Secretary

Isher is a first year economics students. As Secretary , he intends to  focus the society more on speaker development, while ensuring that everyone is given an equal opportunity to pursue something as brilliant as debating. He has been debating for about 3 years now, and  has enjoyed every second of it. While he is not debating, he enjoys spending time travelling, eating and photography.

Yemi Adeola
Yemi Adeola, Treasurer

Yemi is a 1st year History and Politics student. As treasurer he is responsible for financing competition attendance, events , Warwick IV/ Warwick Schools and managing the society’s budgets.  His debating achievements include breaking to the NAMDA Novice final and Lancaster Pro-Am final. When he is not debating or facilitating public debates on the Sub-Committee as Events Coordinator of the Union, he can be found writing bi-weekly articles for  WFS publication or involved in start-ups on campus.

Georgie Friend, Training Officer

Georgie is a first year Politics and Sociology student and is responsible for running the society’s training sessions. Her main aim is to make training as fun and informative as possible, whether you’re a pro debater or a complete beginner. When she’s not debating at Warwick, Georgie is also involved in working for a youth movement dedicated to empowering young members of her local community.

Freddie Marshall, C0-Convenor

Freddie Marshall is a 2nd year Liberal Arts student who is part of the team which organise all competitions that Warwick Debating Society host, most importantly the Warwick IV and Warwick Schools. He is one of the most experienced debaters within the society having won a competition, been best speaker at another and has represented the Warwick A team for the last 3 occasions at the World and European Championships. Beyond debating, Freddie enjoys quizzing, reading and video games.

Jonathan White, Co-Convenor

Jonathan is a second-year History and Politics student. He started debating in October 2015 and has been a member on two consecutive debating society execs. Additionally, he has judged and spoken at 11 debating competitions in the UK. As co-convenor, his role is to organise all debating competitions hosted by Warwick Debating Society throughout the year. Aside from debating, Jonathan enjoys running and reading in his (limited) spare time.

DeDe Cullum, Social Secretary

Magda is a 2nd year Accounting and Finance student. Magda was on a debating team in her high school in Warsaw, Poland. She joined Debating Society at Warwick to meet some interesting friends, that lead her to become Social Secretary. As an officer she is planning to make  our members time in the society the best it can be by organising various socials, from going to POP to playing volleyball on a sunny day on campus. Therefore, she is engaging both people who are willing to have fun with alcohol and those that prefer not to drink, that makes the debating society one big family of many individuals.

Ian Caistor-Parker, Social Secretary

Ian is a 1st year studying History and politics. As Social Secretary he is involved with organising social events and being nice. In his spare time, he enjoys running and also plays netball at university. He used to also be involved with robotics. 

Adam Place, WDU Chair
